CWL Champs 2019 Day 5 Results And Winner

It all came down to Sunday, August 18, as the final six teams put their all into the last day of the Call of Duty World League season. Fans entered the Pauley Pavillion on the UCLA campus in order to watch the Black Ops 4 CWL champions be crowned with five championship rings, and a combined $800,000.

The entire weekend was packed with incredible storylines spanning from Gen.G’s surprising early exit to Unit’s dark-horse run.

G FUEL-sponsored FaZe Clan and Team Heretics ended their season with a 13th-16th placement and $25,000 each.

G FUEL-sponsored Elevate landed with a 9th-12th placement and $35,000.

Team Reciprocity would play 100 Thieves to decide who would play the winner of Units vs. Enigma6 for the loser’s final in the first match of the day. It would be 100 Thieves who would make an incredible loser’s bracket run to make it all the way to the grand finals.

Units and Reciprocity fell with a 5th-6th placement and $75,000 each.

Enigma6 was defeated by 100 Thieves as well to finish their season with an impressive 4th place finish and $110,000.

In a match that had the entire Call of Duty community on the edge of their seats, OpTic Gaming would face 100 Thieves to decide who would move on to the grand finals. In a quick 3-0 sweep, Call of Duty’s most beloved teams would be eliminated by Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag’s 100 Thieves. OpTic Gaming would end their championship run in 3rd place and $140,000.

It would be a rough road for 100 Thieves since they would be facing eUnited from the losers bracket, meaning they would have to win two series. The first map would be Seaside Hardpoint with eUnited making their stance strong with a 250-126 min to take a 1-0 lead.

Next up would be Hacienda Search and Destroy with 100 Thieves delivering a sobering 6-3 victory to even the series. The CWL London and Anaheim champs were able to continue with their momentum by scoring a 3-1 Frequency control victory to take a 2-1 series lead.

eUnited did not take the pressure of a bracket reset well, as they persevered for a 250-219 Arsenal Hardpoint victory.

The final map, Arsenal Search and Destroy, would decide if eUnited would take home the trophy or if there would be a bracket reset. Riding on the tail of the tiny terror Chris “Simp” Lehr, eUnited was able to secure the map with a 6-4 victory in order to seal the deal.

eUnited was crowned the 2019 CWL champions with a 3-2 victory over 100 Thieves.

Each player walked away with a diamond-encrusted Black Ops 4-themed ring and their share of the $800,000 first-place prize.

Simp was also awarded the Astro MVP award to end his fairytale rookie season.
