Here's Everything You Need To Know About Apex Legends' Wattson

Respawn Entertainment launched Apex Legends Season 2, which included the addition of a brand new legend – Wattson. Here is everything you need to know about Apex’s latest Legend.

Who is Wattson?

During EA’s E3 2019 conference, Respawn showed off an animated clip describing the backstory for Natalie “Wattson” Paquette. She began as a child who was interested in multiplication and math, and grew into a powerful woman who learned to master quantum laser mechanics. Wattson was commissioned to build the Apex Games’ Containment Ring.

The day the containment ring was supposed to be added into the Apex Games, her father unfortunately died, leaving her alone. Now, Wattson fights inside the arena that she and her father worked tirelessly to perfect.

What are Wattson’s abilities?

The female science extraordinaire has an electric arsenal at her disposal that is used for location protection. Most Apex Legends revolve around fast movement, but Wattson’s play style is meant to be more strategic.

Wattson’s tactical ability is called “perimeter security,” which is meant to help set up a defense perimeter around a location. She can place multiple electric fence nodes within a specific area, with a maximum of 12.

Once an enemy runs through the electric fence, Wattson’s entire squad will be pinged. Players on Wattson’s squad who run through her fence will not be affected, as they will briefly shut down in order to allow teammates to safely pass through.

Interception pylon, Wattson’s Ultimate, might be the best option for endgame protection. Once the female legend throws down her Ultimate, a huge EMP-like device is tossed down onto the ground as a permanent structure. The pylon will destroy incoming ordnance like grenades and ninja stars while repairing damaged shields.

Spark of Genius works hand-in-hand with Wattson’s Ultimate ability. Her passive gives a boost in the recharge rate for the female Legend’s Tactical ability. Wattson’s ability also fully recharges her Ultimate when using an Ultimate Accelerant.

Where is Wattson best utilized?

The tenth Legend to arrive in Apex Legends is all about defensive tactics and strategy. Squads should use Wattson to protect areas that they are looting or protecting. Wattson’s Tactical ability will alert the entire squad that the perimeter is compromised, which grants your team the upper hand.

As well, using Ultimate Accelerants will immediately boost her Ultimate. This will allow Wattson to place numerous protection pylons. Her abilities allow Wattson to constantly recharge her abilities, which make her an extremely dangerous Legend.

Using Wattson when there are around 10 players left is the best situation. She can put up numerous protection pylons to destroy incoming ordnance along with creating an area that can detect when enemies are close.

How do you acquire Wattson?

Wattson is available for purchase from the Store within Apex Legends. Players will have to pay 750 Apex Coins or 12,000 Legend Tokens. Apex Coins cost real-life cash, with $1 translating to 100 Apex Coins. Legend Tokens can be earned by simply playing Apex Legends.

Here’s how to purchase Wattson:

  1. 1. Log into your Apex Legends account.
    2. Click on the “Store” tab in the main lobby.

With the first season of Apex Legends, players weren’t too happy with the game’s Battle Pass. Fans complained that the paid pass had lackluster skins and it took too long to level up. Respawn certainly listened to feedback for the second season of Apex Legends.

Apex Legends Season 2 kicked off on July 2nd, and players have been enjoying the new updates in King Canyon. If you are interested in learning everything there is to know about Season 2, check out “Everything You Need To Know About Apex Legends Season 2."
