Fortnite World Cup 2019 Recap

Fortnite World Cup 2019 Recap

After months of intense action, the Fornite World Cup is over. Culminating over a weekend in New York, the best players in the world did battle for their shot at millions in prize money.

Let’s take a look at the memorable weekend filled with star-making performances and feel-good moments.

Cizzorz, Fish Fam Wins Creative World Cup

The Creative Finals kicked off the weekend with eight teams battling it out in unique and challenging creations to see who was the best. And though the four map types were far from the usual Fortnite affair, they were still hotly contested between all the squads looking to win their piece of the $3 million prize pool.

In the end, Fish Fam took home the top prize while winning two of the four maps. Fish Fam was captained by G FUEL-sponsored FaZe Cizzorz. The other three members of the team consisted of hiimtylerh, Zand, and Suezhoo.

And in case you’re wondering, here’s how Cizzorz trained for the Fortnite World Cup:

Airwaks and RL GRIMES win Pro-AM

There is no longer doubt on who the best Pro-Am team in Fortnite history is, with Airwaks and RL GRIMES taking home the victory at the World Cup. The duo has now won back-to-back Pro-Am events, both of which took place in June.

Airwaks and RL GRIMES remained a consistent presence among the top of the leaderboards in every game during the Pro-Am, including a second-place finish in Game 1.

Airwaks and RL GRIMES’ consistent approach seems to be the best path to victory in an event like this, as other duos had far better individual games but would be early eliminations in other outings.

Bugha Dominates, Wins Solos

Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf was not the biggest name entering the Fortnite World Cup weekend, but the 16-year-old cemented his place in esports history as the Fortnite World Cup Solos winner.

Bugha’s aggressive approach to the game led to a victory in Game 1, a position he would never relinquish. He recorded 59 points during the six games, a ridiculous 26 more than second place. With an absolutely dominant performance, Bugha took home a cool $3 million.

G FUEL was well represented in the Solos with 16 different competitors competing. Fatch was the top performer for G FUEL finishing a fantastic 10th place and winning $225,000.

Five G FUEL-sponsored competitors finished in the top 20 with Fatch, Kyle "Mongraal" Jackson, Klaus "Stompy" Konstanzer, Danny "Dubs" Walsh, and Cody "Clix" Conrod all placing in the top 20.

With $3 million on the line, the intense pressure on, and all eyes on the competitors, the Fortnite World Cup solo pool proved to be nothing short of spectacular.

Nyhrox and aqua Win Duos After Late Surge

After the first three games of the Duos championship, Emil "Nyhrox" Bergquist Pedersen and David "aqua" Wang were not exactly the tandem people were excited about.

However, the Europeans got red-hot at the right time winning both Game 4 and Game 5 in a Phoenix-like rise to the top.

Williams “Zayt” Aubin and Rocco “Saf” Morales sat atop the standings for the bulk of the day, but the epic comeback from Nyhrox and aqua saw the European duo win the championships in the final game of the day.

Of the 11 duos representing G FUEL in the championship, Kyle "Mongraal" Jackson and Dmitri "Mitr0" Van de Vrie placed sixth, Megga and Dubs placed 7th, and itemm and Derox placed eighth.
