Overwatch World Cup 2019 Results

BlizzCon is a yearly event where fans can gather together to celebrate their favorite video games, so it completely makes sense that the Overwatch World Cup would be taking place at the event. Top professional players from the Overwatch League, Overwatch Path to Pro, and Competitive play competed for their home regions from October 31 to November 2.

Here are all the countries that participated in the Overwatch World Cup 2019:

  • Netherlands
  • Russia
  • South Korea
  • Sweden
  • United Kingdom
  • United States

The ten countries listed above competed through a two round-robin style group stage, with the top country from each group moving on to the semi-finals. The second and third-place teams advanced to the quarterfinals.

Here are the results for the group stages:

Group A

United States: 4 - 0

France: 3 - 1

South Korea: 2 - 2

Sweden: 1 - 3

United Kingdom: 0 - 4

Group B

China: 4 - 0

Denmark: 3 - 1

Netherlands: 2 - 2

Russia: 1 - 3

Canada: 0 - 4

The top six teams that moved on played in a single-elimination playoff bracket which took place on November 2. 

For the first time in the Overwatch World Cup’s four year history, United States took home the gold medal with a dominating 3-0 sweep over China. South Korea took home the bronze medal as they lost to the eventual tournament winners, US. Fans were also able to cast a vote for their MVP pick, and unsurprisingly, it was the 2019 OWL MVP Jay “Sinatraa” Won.
