BLAST Pro Series Global Final 2019 Day 2 Results

The BLAST Pro Series Global Final 2019 kicked off yesterday in Riffa, Bahrain. With the winners bracket finals and the loser bracket finals in action today, we got a better look at who would be battling it out for the $350,000 first-place prize pool tomorrow.

With some of the world’s best teams in attendance ranging from the North American powerhouses of Team Liquid to our very own G FUEL-sponsored FaZe Clan in attendance, a lot was on the line.

So what happened during today’s action? Who booked their ticket to the Grand Finals, and what teams’ tournament is already over?

We’ll take you through all the day two action from the BLAST Pro Series Global Final!

Lower Bracket Elimination Match: FaZe Clan vs. Team Liquid

The first match of the day was the lower bracket elimination match. The loser of this match would be sent home just after two matches while the winner will progress. This match was set to kick-off with FaZe Clan and Team Liquid. The first match was Mirage, a long classic of the map pool. During this map, we saw Team Liquid get a red hot start at 7-1. Once up during Mirage, they looked poised to take the map by a landslide, however FaZe Clan showed some resilience and battled their way back during the second half. Although the effort from FaZe Clan was valiant, it was not enough to dismantle the lead that Team Liquid built early on. Team Liquid eventually took this one 16-13.

The second match of the BO3 was on Dust 2. This is where FaZe Clan picked up the steam from the get-go, taking a commanding 6-0 lead. After this one-sided start by FaZe Clan, the score was nearly equalized at 6-5, and it continued to be a back and forth . With the score tied at 12-12, FaZe Clan ran away with the map and concluded it at 16-12.

Going into the third and deciding match of the series, the final map was set to be played on Nuke. This map was not in the favor of FaZe Clan, as after a quick 3-0 lead, Team Liquid regained momentum and never looked back. Going all the way in the map to win it all 16-10, Team Liquid moved on to the final day of the BLAST Pro Series Global Final. With the lose, FaZe Clan is the first team eliminated from the competition in fourth place.

Upper Bracket Final: Astralis vs. NIP

The final match of the day determined which team would lock in the Grand Final spot. Going into the match, Astralis were heavily considered the favorites to win this match, and they did not disappoint. The first map of the match was on Train. Astralis quickly powered their way to an 8-1 lead on their defensive side and they did not let go of this lead the rest of the match. Although NIP somewhat clawed their way back with some rounds here and there, Astralis were too much to handle on Train for NIP. Astralis took the map 16-11.

The second map of the upper bracket final was over before you could even blink. NIP took the lead early on, but that was about all they could muster for the match. On Nuke, Astralis let out an onslaught of attacks on NIP. Astralis did not let NIP get double digits in this match, making quick work of NIP 16-8. NIP will try to get a second chance at Astralis in the Grand Final. In order to do that, NIP needs to take down Team Liquid tomorrow.
