CWL Champs 2019 Day 2 Pool Play Results

The top 32 teams connected at Pauley Pavillion on the UCLA campus in order to decide the Call of Duty World League Champion.

With a $2 million prize pool on the line, and with a new franchising system being implemented for next year, this event might be the most important Call of Duty event to date.

The second day of pool play saw the remaining matches from all teams. There are eight groups with four teams each. Every team in each bracket played each other once, totaling to three games each.

The first day of pool play, Wednesday, August 14th, saw some upsets as the team to make back-to-back grand finals at CWL Anaheim and CWL Finals, Gen.G, fell short and was knocked out.

While teams began to be eliminated from contention, that meant that other organizations began to qualify by moving on to bracket play. G FUEL-sponsored FaZe Clan was able to dominate day one with a 6-2 map count, earning them a spot to play on Friday, August 16th.

Since each team needs to play each other once, FaZe Clan had to face off against the Units on day two. The Units would be delivered their first loss of the event as FaZe Clan was able to dominate with a 3-0 sweep.

Team Reciprocity and FaZe Clan will meet in the winners bracket. It’s also important to note that this will be a rematch between siblings of Matthew "Skrapz" Marshall from FaZe Clan and Team Reciprocity’s Bradley "wuskinz" Marshall.

G FUEL-sponsored Team Heretics headed into day two with a small safety-net due to their day one sweep over Hybrid Gaming. Unfortunately, they got a taste of a sweep themselves as Splyce was able to knock them back to an even 1-1 record.

The Spaniards were able to rally back by providing their own sweep against Aspire Esports in order to bump their record to 2-1. Thanks to that win, Team Heretics earned a spot in the winners bracket where they will face OpTic Gaming.

The G FUEL-sponsored organization, Elevate, played their first match of the day against the CWL Final champions eUnited. They fell 1-3, which left them in a three-way tie for second with RBL Esports and Celtic FC Esports.

Due to a tiebreaker determined in the CWL rule book, Elevate would move on to Friday’s bracket play.
