Gamescom 2019 Day 4 Recap

Thousands of industry professionals, developers, and fans have come together to participate in Gamescom 2019 that is held annually in Cologne, Germany. From August 20th to 24th, attendees will be able to check out event-exclusive demos along with being able to directly interact with the gaming community through panels and events.

Fans at the event will be able to walk the floor and visit booths hosted by some of the industry’s most notorious developers like Bethesda. The Maryland-based company showed off DOOM Eternal, the follow-up to the 2016 reboot.

DOOM Eternal will place players back into the boots of the DOOM Slayer to save the world yet again. With brand new abilities, there are new techniques to use in order to eliminate Helly and his evil minions. Players will be able to experiment with the Meathook, Super Shotgun, and Double Dash in order to create viral-worthy clips to share across the Internet.

Battlemode was a highlighted mode showcased at Gamescom, which will be DOOM Eternal’s brand new 2v1 mode. Players will team up with another Slayer in order to take on gigantic demons across six unique arenas. All future maps and demons in DLC will be completely free!

Bethesda’s next iteration of DOOM will drop on November 11th and will be available on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.

Fans were also able to check out a new demo for Gearbox’s Borderlands 3. The next installment to the Borderland series will offer more freedom to fans as there are different modes to play. Proving Grounds will be Borderlands’ mission system where players will be given a task to complete along with the possibility of a boss monster at the conclusion. If players are able to walk away alive, they will be rewarded with a high-tier loot chest.

With the final hours of Gamescom coming to a close, we are excited to see if any surprise announcements will take place. Maybe Sony will unveil some information about the rumored PlayStation 5 system?
