With the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5 set to release this holiday season, we're in for a treat when it comes to video games releasing in 2020, especially when it comes to FPS titles. Here are the 8 best FPS video games coming in 2020:
8. After The Fall
Release Date: Sometime in 2020
Platforms: VR, PC, and PS4
Showcased at E3 2019, After The Fall is one of the many VR games coming in 2020 and will be available for VR platforms on PS4 and PC. The game has stirred up tons of excitement, as it is promising to be a massive VR multiplayer adventure. According to After The Fall’s website, “From the creators of Arizona Sunshine comes an epic VR action FPS with intense co-op gameplay
at its core that pits up to 4 players against a vast, hostile VR world in a raging fight for survival.” This game is developed by the same company that made another VR hit during 2019, so many fans are hopeful we can finally have this massive multiplayer experience for our VR systems.
7. CrossFire X
Release Date: Sometime in 2020
Platforms: Xbox One
One of the more anticipated Xbox One games coming this year, Crossfire X is inspired by the free-to-play FPS that's heavily popular in China and other Asian countries. Ported over to the Xbox One, this game is much like any other FPS multiplayer experience. Two teams will be pitted against each other with an ample amount of game modes coming right off the launch. There's also a story mode coming with Crossfire X when it releases this year. It will be interesting to see how the story mode plays out.
6. Zombie Army 4: Dead War
Release Date: February 4, 2020
Platforms: Xbox One, PS4, and PC
From Rebellion, the makers of the legendary Sniper Elite series, comes another version of their Zombie Army series — Zombie Army 4: Dead War. 4. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Quarantine
Release Date: Sometime in 2020
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
Most gamers are familiar with or know about the popular Rainbow Six franchise. The Rainbow Six series has been a hit for the last couple of years, and Ubisoft plans to release Rainbow Six Quarantine sometime this year. Instead of the standard team versus team gameplay that we're used to in Rainbow Six, players will be pitted against a common threat: a virus. It will be interesting to see how this new version of the popular series pans out. Whether or not it will go over well with fans is still up in the air, but be sure to keep an eye out for it!
3. Disintegration
Release Date: Sometime between Q1 and early Q2 2020, according to PC Gamer
Platforms: PC, Xbox One, and PS4
Disintegration was founded by one of the co-creators of the legendary Halo series and is further developed by V1 Interactive. The main focus of Disintegration is that you're the commander of a robotic tank-like machine, with emphasis on regular FPS combat. The game most recently had a technical open beta, and it was widely loved by all who played it. Disintegration is one of the most unique FPS games coming this year, as it breaks the mold for what an FPS is. There are classic FPS components in this game, from the variety of weapons to the combat system. But it's a much slower paced FPS. There’s a lot of emphasis on team cohesion and making the right play with your crew. Many fans have described it as an FPS and RTS mix, which is one of the first of its kind. Be on the lookout for Disintegration. The developers stated that they’re aiming for a release date sometime in Q1 2020 or Q2 2020. So the latest we can expect it to come out is in June 2020.
2. Halo Infinite
Release Date: Holiday 2020
Platforms: PC and Xbox One
We all know the main focus of Microsoft’s E3 2019 showcase was the new Xbox Series X coming holiday season 2020. Along with the console, the main title they're releasing with the newest Xbox is the next installment in the Halo franchise: Halo Infinite. We were showcased an epic cinematic scene that showed the Masterchef waking up to a defeated fleet, and then it ultimately cuts away. Halo Infinite is one of the most anticipated FPS games coming in 2020.
1. Doom Eternal
Release Date: March 20, 2020
Platforms: PC, PS4, and Xbox One
Another title showcased during E3 2019, DOOM Eternal is a game that fans, including us, have been awaiting for quite some time. It's one of the most popular hardcore FPS series. And during the first stage of the re-boot process in 2016, it was one of the biggest hits of the year. Now, with another title coming on March 20, 2020, Doom Eternal is for sure going to be just as big of a hit, if not bigger.
In fact, we love DOOM so much that we partnered with Bethesda Softworks to bring you an official DOOM Eternal-inspired Spicy Demon’ade flavor on March 11th!
