The next iteration of the Wasteland series is also set to release in 2020. It was showcased heavily during E3 2019. During 2014, Wasteland 2 was a heavily claimed RPG game developed by inXile Entertainment. The game was centered around getting out of this nuclear-ravished world as you make your way through it and progress your character as the story goes on. The next version of the Wasteland series is set in a frozen tundra-like setting, and it will be interesting to see how the story plays out in this one!

7. Starfield

Release Date: TBA
Platforms:
TBA

This is the latest RPG game developed by Bethesda, who is behind series such as Fallout and Elder Scrolls which we will touch on later. We know little to nothing about Starfield. All we know is that it was showcased at E3 2018 and it was slated to be a release for the next generation consoles. We hope we’ll get something on it during E3 2020. And with the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 releasing later in 2020, perhaps we’ll get a Starfield release date at that time.

6. Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord

Release Date: March 2020
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, and PC

Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord is coming 12 years after the original’s release and another 12 years after the expansion pack released for the PS3. The style of gameplay that Mount and Blade offers is very unique, as there is a heavy emphasis on siege style gameplay. The game was originally announced in 2012, and fans have been wondering if the game will ever come out. Expect a lot of slow and methodical gameplay out of Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord.

5. Dying Light 2

Release Date: December 31, 2020 according to Walmart, although the date could be a placeholder
Platforms:
 PS4, Xbox One, and PC

Techland’s Dying Light is one of the best survival/horror RPG games ever released. The original was released in 2015 and was critically-acclaimed. For more information about the game, here’s a description from dyinglightgame.com

You can achieve things no one else can. Enter places no one else dares. With your unique abilities you have the power to be an agent of change within this decaying metropolis.

4. Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Platform:
PS4

Announced during E3 2019, this game was one that made the entire venue erupt when it was showcased. The Final Fantasy series has been around for decades now. We have seen countless games released during the series lifespan, but there are some games that hold a special place in fans’ hearts. Final Fantasy 7 is one of these games. Originally released for the PlayStation, the game is heavily praised by fans of the series. It is also seen as the game that makes or breaks the entire storyline of the Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts saga.

3. Elder Scrolls 6

Release Date: Hopefully 2020
Platforms:
TBA

The Elder Scrolls series is perhaps Bethesda’s largest and best series. The series has spanned five games so far, each coming years apart and each being Game of The Year in their own rights. The last iteration of the Elder Scrolls was Skyrim in 2013. it was one of the best games of the decade without a doubt, and fans are still enjoying it to this day. We know essentially nothing about the next Elder Scrolls series. All we have about the game is their official announcement teaser, basically confirming that it is coming soon. With the next generation consoles coming late 2020, that may be the time we see the next Elder Scrolls game. We can only speculate for now.

2. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2

Release Date: TBA
Platform: Switch

The direct sequel to the best Nintendo Switch game of all time was showcased during E3 2019. it The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will once again follow Link and his journey after the events of the original Breath of The Wild. The latter is arguably one of the best games of the decade. Nintendo developed a masterpiece, and it is seen as the must-have Switch game for those who have not played it yet. We can potentially expect a release date of late 2020, but we will have to wait and see if Nintendo showcases any more information about it in the near future.

1. Cyberpunk 2077

Release Date: September 17, 2020
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, and PC

We don’t think there is a more anticipated game coming in 2020 for all platforms than CD Projekt Red’s next open-world RPG, Cyberpunk 2077. With the world talking about this game during its announcement at E3 2019, we do not know much about how the gameplay will look for this new title. However, we know who the developers of this title are: the masterminds behind The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, which has been in a lot of people’s game of the decade discussions as of late. If this game is even half of what The Witcher 3 is, it will still be a fantastic game. Be sure to check out Cyberpunk 2077 when it drops on September 17, 2020!
